Pakistan Army has recently successfully test-fired a new version of cruise missile which is even more efficient. It is capable of hitting targets at 700kms, bringing almost all major cities of India within its range.
It is named as “Babur” after Mughal invader. The missile is basically a part of Babur Weapon System version-2. This is because of the fact that it is more efficient and advanced than its earlier missile version. It has now enhanced aerodynamics and avionics which can target both at sea and on land. According to Pakistan Army it is a low flying terrain hugging missile. which carries certain stealth features along with that, it is also capable of carrying various types of warheads. Babur is definitely an important multiplier for Pakistan’s strategic defense.
The enhanced version of this missile is equipped with Navigational Technologies of Terrain Contour Matching(TERCOM) along with Digital Scene Matching and Area Co-Relation(DSMAC), it enables it to work with various kinds of targets with pinpoint accuracy even when the navigation is not present.
Chairman Joint Chiefs of staff committee General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, officers from Strategic Plans Division, and engineers of strategic organizations were present at the launch. The President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan have congratulated the engineers and the scientists on this auspicious success story.
