The Tourism industry in Pakistan has gone through different phases. It has received a huge amount of tourism rate back in 70’s but due to terrorism and other reasons it couldn’t receive enough amount of foreign tourists. It can be witnessed that the foreign tourists are increasing a little bit.
According to a report, In 2015, Pakistan attracted 5,634 foreign tourists. According to the biennial report of the World Economic Forum, Pakistan ranks 125th in the world in terms of foreign tourists.
The sudden change in the record of tourism industry in Pakistan at the local level is a sign that Pakistan is actually recovering from the dark era. The main destinations of choice for tourists include Peshawar, Karachi, Swat, Lahore and all the northern areas of Pakistan.
Lets not forget Gilgit-Baltistan region which is a paradise for mountaineers which is located at the junction of the Hindu Kush and Karakoram ranges, between India, China. Pakistan also has the largest glaciers on the globe outside the polar region, which offers tremendous attraction for adventurers.
It is planned by Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation(PTDC) that they will further streamline facilities for the tourists in various destinations and consultations with provinces to devise a joint strategy to improve the sector. It is a good sign that the people are visiting tourist points without security especially Naran, Ayubia, Swat, Gilgit and Skardu.
