Serene Air, Pakistan’s next upcoming airline is all set to be to begins its domestic routes by the end of December 2016. The Serene Airline which is Islamabad-based plan to start its domestic operations first and later on the international flights will take place. Serene Air will start its operations with the fleet of three B737-800 (NG) aircraft.
Serene airline got the RPT (Regular Public Transport) license for domestic operations which have been approved by Civil Aviation Authority. The domestic destinations of Serene Air includes all the major cities of Pakistan which are Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Multan and Quetta. The Airline intends to launch its international flight within the first two years of the domestic flight operations and more aircraft will be also induced.
Currently, there are three airlines operating on domestic routes in the country, including Pakistan International Airlines, Airblue and Shaheen Air. Polani said that all three airlines operating on the domestic routes have less than 100 aircraft combined, which are below the required number to serve the nation with an estimated population of 220 million.
The authority granted Serene Air a license in March 2016 to establish the airline with headquarters in Pakistan, however, the company has not yet been granted the Air Operator Certificate that will allow it to fly. The grant of the certificate is linked with the acquisition of aircraft mentioned in the business plan. So lets just hope for the best !
